Signature Talks

My goal is to help you build a stronger reputation, for your organisation and for the event itself. I speak on reputation, crisis, stakeholder management, organisational behaviour, and strategic communications, and I customise every presentation to your organisation’s specific needs. Below are some of my most requested topics. This is a partial list — tell me what your audience needs and I’ll build something specific.

Global reach

I’ve spoken at more than 125 events across 17 countries, including the TBLI Conference in Amsterdam, the largest global gathering on ESG and impact investment, and BCI 2017 in London, the world’s largest business continuity conference, where I was one of four invited keynote speakers and closed the event. I’ve addressed the Global Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors and numerous local auditing conferences, been invited back five times by the Compliance Institute of Southern Africa, and spoken at CEO and CFO summits and Marcus Evans conferences across China, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, and South Africa.

A moment audiences remember

My talk on reputation risk drew more than 600 delegates at the Global Conference of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Years later, it’s still the talk people quote back to me.

Reputation, Always at Risk

An institution’s reputation is under constant pressure, and a quick search of any industry will confirm it. This talk moves past a catalogue of failures and gives the audience an active role in protecting an organisation’s most fragile asset. Well suited to sensitising boards, executives, and management to reputation as both the organisation’s most valuable asset and its most volatile risk.

Reputation as Stock-in-Trade

For some organisations and individuals, reputation isn’t just an asset to protect. It’s the product itself, the thing clients are actually buying. This talk covers what that means for how you build, price, and defend it.

Stakeholder Reputation: Managing a Dynamic Web of Relationships

An institution’s reputation comes from how its stakeholders perceive it, shaped by performance, behaviour, and the ethics behind its decisions. This talk covers how stakeholder relationships, engagement, and communication interact, and why they need managing as a connected system rather than separate conversations.

Restoring a Damaged Reputation

Full reputation recovery after a serious incident can take years, and some organisations never fully return to their pre-crisis standing. This talk gives audiences the concepts and tools to shorten that timeline when the damage has already happened.

Crisis Preparedness: Reading the Warning Signs

Crises damage relationships, market share, and budgets in ways that are hard to reverse. How well an organisation responds depends almost entirely on how aware and prepared its leadership was going in. This talk walks through the phases of a crisis and what preparedness actually looks like before one hits.

Communicating Under Pressure

What you say in a crisis, and what you hold back, decides how the crisis is remembered. This talk covers how to build a communication response that holds up once the pressure is on.

CEO Reputation and Organisational Success

A CEO’s personal reputation and the organisation’s reputation are tied together more tightly than most leadership teams realise. This talk covers what that link means for succession, crisis response, and day-to-day decision-making at the top.

Understanding Stakeholder Management

Every organisation has a stakeholder map, whether it’s been drawn deliberately or not. This talk covers how to identify who’s on it, what they actually want, and how to manage the relationships that matter most.

Marketing a Consulting Practice: Planting Seeds

Today’s assignments come from seeds planted long before the pitch. This talk draws from the full-day workshop “How to Market a Consultancy Practice” and covers how to market professional services in a crowded market.

Signature style

My delivery is interactive and provocative, built to earn its place on the agenda rather than fill time. I read the room and adjust: CEOs, auditors, compliance officers, and frontline leaders each get a talk built for them, not a recycled deck.

Proof, not promises

Conference organisers keep inviting me back, because the feedback holds up long after the applause. Read testimonials.
